Let’s Work Together to Make Butte Valley a Safe Place To Live
We are concerned with the increase of illegal marijuana grow sites in the Butte Valley area. Their presence endangers the community in many ways and, because they are buying huge amounts of scarce water to water their crops, legitimate users of water run short. Their guard dogs are dangerous and often run loose. They habitually scatter trash because they don’t use community trash services. They are building illegal/non code complaint structures. If you see any indications of an illegal grow operation we encourage you to contact the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Department for matters and activity that violate the laws and codes of the State of California and Siskiyou County.
Butte Valley Chamber of Commerce would like to remind all of us that your personal safety and the safety of others is paramount. Please do not confront potentially illegal situation by yourself. Contact the appropriate authorities for help and assistance. Secondarily, the Chamber reminds us that not all marijuana activity is illegal. Please read the Codes and Laws appended to our website to familiarizes yourself with current statutes. Lastly, please no racial profiling of anyone. While you may see a certain race associated with these illegal activities, it is the illegal activity we ask your help to STOP DEAD IN ITS TRACKS.
